John Gordon Sinclair stars as Gavin Nelson, who is a journalist who works for the local rag (The Weekly Herald). He covers local stories such as noise pollution, lost dogs and neighbourhood quarrels. However he is far more interested in following fellow reporter Clare Priddy played by Sophie Thompson. He went as far as renting the room opposite to hers.
