Long before writer/director Blake Edwards brought his most famous characters to TV, the private detectives Richard Diamond and Peter Gunn, he created a series of stories starring ~censored~ Powell as Willie Dante, proprietor of a San Francisco restaurant called Dante.s Inferno, which had an illegal gambling operation in its back room that got him into lots of trouble. Only 8 episodes were broadcast, over a period of several years from 1952 to 1956 as part of the anthology Four Star Playhouse, with the writing of the later episodes taken over by ~censored~ Carr.
